Personal Response – Motivating a new generation?

“The key to revitalizing a language is by motivating a new generation of speakers”

Learning a new language is always difficult and challenging, but it is possible if you practice and put your mind up to it.

It is said that the younger you are, the quicker and faster you are at learning. And today, for example with the English language, they already start learning it at a younger age, than when I went to the Danish Folkeskole. After the new reform of the Danish school, children start learning English already in 1st grade. -Of course it is not as “technical” and grammar based as it will be in 3rd grade and up, but they still learn the very basics of the English language. At the beginning, when I heard about the new reform, I was a little bit surprised of how early they were going to learn English.

I have a little sister and brother myself, who are in 3rd -and 4th grade, and they have had English for one and two years now. Especially hearing from my little sister, she is very happy to have and learn English and even though she is only nine years old, she is already getting a good idea of how English works.

Therefore, I think that by learning English earlier than you normally would, will help to expand the skills and the capabilities of speaking the language. Also the way the young children learn English, by including fun and games, will help motivate them to learn and speak English.
